Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a pain in my side and every time I cough, which has been frequent in the last few days, it is like a stabbing pain. It is not where any organs other than maybe my colon but it feels like it is on the surface by/in my skin. I think it is a hernia. What can one do at home to minimize the pain?
As you explain the situation and if you think this might be a hernia you should discuss with your doctor to order an abdominal ultrasound for you.If it is hernia it will be seen in the ultrasound. If not than gases in the colon is another cause.
Regards
Dr.Jolanda
