What Causes Sharp Pain, Sweling And Bruising On Knee?

I have been having problems with my R knee and they ve done an MRI and found no irregularities .. Pain, swelling and a quick sharp pain that makes my leg buckle.. also I have a feeling of bruising on the outside of that same leg.... I m wondering if it could be hip related ?
