What Causes Sharp Radiating Pain From Back Of The Knee To Upper Calf?
I have been having pain in my right leg back behind the knee &upper calf. It happens at night so my Dr told me to take posaium. & magnesium and drink tonic water b4 going to bed. Ma,king dinner just a few minutes ago I had the sharpest pain in my leg in that spot. I have had 5 major surgeries unless than 60 days. Feel fine other than permanent disability in rt. Arm/hand. No fever, no breathing problems,no sweats and the pain has gone away now. When it came it was almost crippling for a couple seconds. thank you
Your pain appears to be due to some trauma to muscle or underlying other soft tissue. I would advise you to give rest to the area and use a crepe bandage so as to provide relief to the soft tissue. If the pain needs some medication, you may use simple analgesics like Tab paracetamol which you may find over the counter in any medical stores. In addition to above, I would advise you to drink lot of fluids with electrolytes containing various minerals.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
