What Causes Sharp Stabbing Upper Back Pain While Having Scoliosis?
Hello - I have a question about a possible back/ neck injury. I can not bend my neck forward or back without having sharp shooting severe pain in my upper back between my shoulder blades. I have scoliosis with a partial harrington rod (part of it in the thoracic region was removed about 6 years ago). My insurance will not cover anything that is pre-existing. What can I do? I possibly hurt it moving hay last weekend (although the pain started on Friday).

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Scoliosis is derangement of normal curves of spinal cord. This causes sudden compressions on the nerve supplying affected part of back, with certain movements. An MRI, spotting the exact site of problem followed by treatment by a spinal surgeon would help.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
