What Causes Sharp Throat Pain While Drinking Cold Water?
when I drink very cold water, I get a sharp pain in my lower throat on the right side. It doesn t hurt hurt when I eat ice cream or other cold things. Only when I drink cold drinks very fast and for over 10 seconds of swallowing.I have no swelling, no pain otherwise
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sharp throat pain while drinking cold water which is because of upper respiratory infection. It could be strep throat or sinusitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Avoid cold beverages. Do warm saline gargles 3-4 times a day with lukewarm water. Take diet rich in fruits rich in vitamin C as it will boost your immunity. Keep on sipping lukewarm water whole day. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start proper course of antibiotics. You can take steam inhalation and an expectorant cough syrup if cough is associated with sputum. Phenylephrine, chlorpheniramine maleate are effective cough syrups.
