What Causes Short And Light Menstruation While On Contraceptive Pills?

Hi, I ve been on the pill for 3 years & my period has always been for 5 days. However this month I got my period on Tuesday & it finished Thursday lunchtime. I was taking it everyday (I still am) & I was just wondering if this is normal as I ve never experienced it before?

Hi,

Oral contraceptive pills need to be taken daily as prescribed, at a fixed time every day.

Some times a slight deviation in intake time or unknowingly forgetting to consume it for a day causes slight withdrawal bleeding, which can be different than normal.

Progesterone only pills tend to cause occasional change in menstrual pattern/absence or frequent periods with profuse or scanty bleeding. This may be the case with you if you are on this type of pill.

Please don't be scared. Continue taking pill as you regular take it.Observe next period. In case it's still changed. You can consult your prescribing gynecologist & be convinced.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
