What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Dizziness?

my sister has been complaining of shortness of breath and dizziness for weeks, she has been a smoker (over 1 pack a day , for years and years) i can see her struggling to breathe, what could this be? she wont go to the doctor because she said she is afraid. has had a chest xray and her doctor says she has asthma and put her on inhaler. i think he is a quack!

It is a possibility that your sister does in fact has Asthma, given her history of chronic smoking.

Breathlessness is a very common symptom of Asthma. The dizziness can be due to decrease in oxygen concentration in her blood from inflammation of her lung tissue.

I would recommend continuing her inhaler and also consult a Pulmonologist if her breathlessness is not adequately controlled with inhaler.
