What Causes Shortness Of Breath While On Amlodipine?
I recently started 5mg of amlodipine for Htn. I am on my feet all day @ work; I am an Rn. Increased SOB on exertion on med and mild swelling to BLLE. Can this also cause weight gain if retaining mild fluid to lower extr. ? Also, any other class you would recommend with new onset of Htn? diuretic? no previous hx of HTN. Thank you.

In your case, if you have developed edemas on amlodipine and don''t feel well, ACE inhibitors can be the option. If you are overweight diuretics also can have favorable effect, the other option is the combination of small dose ACE inhibitor and diuretic. This combination usually has perfect results.
