What Causes Sinus Tachycardia, Weight Loss And Shortness Of Breath?
My symptoms are sinus tachycardia (100-117), unexplained weight loss 14% (172-- 152), low grade fever, & some minor shortness of breath. I m male, healthy, 59years old, 6 feet and lean, but now skinny. It started 3 months ago and then got better and is now back, but the weight loss has been consistent despite eating normally. I ve had some dental procedures (root canal infection & extraction) that coincided with my symptoms. I may have a very, small atelectasis in my right lung (chest x ray). My blood tests are very normal but I am still losing weight (inexplicably). I just went to the ER for 5 hours and they diagnosed me sinus tachycardia and shortness of breath, but don t know why.

Read and reviewed your query and health concerns.
You seem to suffer from -PUO with Right lung atelectasis with dental infections.The sinsu tachycardia, could be due to unresolved weight loss, with low grade fever, accompanied with all this.
In the given scenario, I would suggest-IGRA test for detecting the unresolved low grade fever-which could detect hidden-Pulmonary TB, which might have caused small atelectasis in right lung.
Consults with Second Chest Physician, and review of lab tests for Hb1Ac and Blood Sugar tests,to rule out accompanied undiagnosed diabetes would be suggested in your case.
LCR blood tests and sputum tests- to diagnose hidden STD and hidden Lung TB would be needed to understand other causes of PUO,with weight loss.
Bronchoscopic Examination of the Right lung and brounchial tree with Lavage testing for AFB and Cancer cells- to rule out Lung TB and to rule out any hidden malignancy-Lung Cancer-Adenocarcinoma Right bronchial tree needs to be ruled out.
CT spiral Chest study would fix the cause of right lung atelectasis, which would turn around the cause of PUO with unresolved weight loss in your case.
Cause of breathlessness could be from-atelectasis with low grade fever causing tachypnea- which is causing breathlessness in your case.
Other causes of anaemia from low grade infection in lungs and teeth needs to be controlled simultaneously.
Thus a team of Chest physician and Bronchoscopist and Physician would be needed to find out the cause of sinus tachy with weight loss with shortness of breath,as discussed above.Hope this reply would help you to resolve the health issues with help of doctors attending on you.
