What Causes Skin Rash While On Plavix?

I was put on Plavix last year following a stroke. I has a severe reaction a skin rash. I stopped the drug. The rash did not clear until my doctor gave kenalog. It cleared. I forgot to mention thet it affected my hands too. They had a weird rash that also cleared. Earlier this year the hands started again. A couple of months later the leg rash is back. Is this a continuing side affect of the drug. I received a kenalog shot 3weeks ago. The hands cleared but the leg rash has not. With the first reaction I had bad leg pain. It has returned but not as intense.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an allergic rash. As a first line management, you can take antihistamines like Cetirizine for symptomatic relief. If lesion persists better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
