Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sleeplessness Along With Headaches Despite Taking Ambien?
yes I take sleeping pills and still don t sleep only from 10pmto4am I take Ambiem10md.i drink no caffeine no carbs don t smoke I have a sound machine and don t know what will help me lack of sleep give me headaches and migraine. I sleep only 4 or 3 hours a night
I think the first think to look at would be some baseline lab work for this. CBC, liver and kidney panel and a thyroid panel would be good starters. I also wonder if you are suffering from any sleep apnea (this would cause an inability to obtain a long duration of sleep, along with daytime fatigue and restlessness). There are specialists in sleep medicine that might really be able to help you. They can perform a sleep study to see and hopefully determine the exact cause of your failure to obtain adequate sleep duration. They do not only evaluate sleep apnea but the whole gambit of sleep disorders.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. David Girardi, Internal Medicine Specialist
