Hello dear,
Thank you for writing on this platform.
Sleeplessness is a situation that significantly impairs the quality of life. Therefore, it should be addressed early. With the help of professionals,
insomnia can be well managed.
I wouldn't suggest medication to start with. I always suggest my patients to start with some simple measures that can improve the situation a lot.
1. Avoid coffee and tea (especially black, green tea) after noon.
2. Avoid watching TV in the late hours.
3. Take a warm shower before going to bed.
4. Drink a glass of hot milk with honey, or a cup of chamomile tea.
5. Read a boring book before sleep.
6. Avoid
smoking cigarettes, weed, or recreational drugs.
7. Try meditating and
yoga. There are some very useful phone apps for
meditation and yoga, that you can use even if you don't have time for classes.
If these measures do not seem to improve your situation, you will need to see your doctor. He or she will probably prescribe low doses of tranquilizers. In such case, please follow the doctor's advice on the dosage and duration of the treatment, in order to avoid the dangerous adverse effects of these medications.
I hope this helped somehow. Do not hesitate to contact me for any further questions or queries.
Best wishes,
Dr. Alma
