Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sleeplessness, Head Congestion And Shooting Pain In The Arms And Legs?
I have sudden onset symptoms following a night of restless sleep. This afternoon, I became chilled to the bone (in 78degree weather); congestion in my head; serious aching throughout my body including shooting pains in my arms, legs, wrist (sporadic & not all at once). My fingers are very swollen and I can t make a fist as its painful; I m not able to get comfortable lying down & am unable to move without pain. I took 400mg of ibuprofen earlier (3hrs ago) with little effect & am about to take another dose. I am a 69yo female; on meds for hypertension, allergies (monthly maint shots; daily oral meds 7 Nasal spray); slightly overweight & active gardener living in a wooded area. Would like to wait a few more minutes & take 600mg ibuprofen, is that adviseable?
As per my clinical experience, the head congestion with shooting limb pain suggests an alteration in a neuroendocrine function via altered sleep.
Primary relief with plenty of liquids, deep breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, warm water bath and Ibuprofen. Get your vital parameters checked after 6 hours with your PCP if necessary.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
