What Causes Slight Dizziness, Severe Fatigue And Thumb Bump With History Of Vertigo?

Hi, my husband is 70 years old and has been very light headed and very tired all day. He has had a swollen finger (no apparent injury) for several days. He has high blood pressure, controlled with meds. He has sleep apnea and uses his mask nightly. A small 1/4" bump just appeared on his thumb joint. Should I take him to the ER or should he be seen tomorrow by his MD? Has has had episodes of actual vertigo in the past with no apparent cause found. I believe he has herpes but never diagnosed. He has had some days of light headedness before. Thank you.

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have slight dizziness, severe fatigue and thumb bump with history of vertigo . Well there can be many reasons for vertigo , bu the most common is anxiety and the other Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) are ear infection , hypoglycemia , anemia , meniere's disease , migraine , cervical spondolysis , sinusitis and alteration in he blood circulation . Sometimes side effects of certain medicine can also cause vertigo like BP medicine . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist again if condition doesn't get better for proper examination . Doctor may order test like rotatory chair test , head movement test , posturography , blood test , examination with otoscope and CT scan . Doctor may prescribe antiemetic drug , sedatives , antibiotics like gentamicin and recommend balance therapy , vestibular therapy or physiotherapy . Bump on thump can be due to arthritis , infection or ganglion , consult dermatologist for it .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
