What Causes Small Amount Of Protein And Leukocyte Esterase In Urine?

Hi, in every urine test I have done it always shows either trace or small amt. of protein, hemoglobin and leukocyte esterase at times but in all tests no nitrites are found. What could it mean? I am 44 yrs female, 5'1 & weigh 142. I have fibromyalgia, Cardio vasospasm, Hypertension, interstitial cystitis, diverticulosis and possible MS.

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your clinical history and query, my opinion is as follows:
1. Presence of leukocyte esterase indicates increase in leukocytes. Possible bacterial infection.
2. Small quantity of albumin can be seen due to exercise or protein rich diet. Secondary to hypertension induced renal damage, albumin can also be seen in urine.
3.In infection both nitrates and leukocyte esterase, both are positive. You are negative for urinary tract infection

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
