Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My throat has been sore for months. Well not my throat really, but more my adams apple area or thyroid cartilage. Ive noticed my voice has become raspier than normal (normal being the crackly voice of a 15 year old pubescent boy) and I ve been needing to cough or clear my throat every time before i speak. I havent noticed any lump, or pain when swallowing food. I m a bit of a hypochondriac, and this kind of stuff freaks me out. What s going on in my throat??
Sore throat and hoarseness seems mainly due to bacterial infection or poor oral hygiene and it could be due to co-infection by bacterial and viral organism. I would suggest you to maintain proper oral hygiene and do warm saline gargles. You should take antibiotic Amoxicillin for 5 days. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get routine blood tests and throat swab test done and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Avoid oily and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
