What Causes Sore Throat, Ear Pain And Cough With Phlegm After Colonoscopy?
Hi. I just had a routine colonoscopy. I woke up with severe sore throat and earache. It was painful to talk. I also had lots of phlegm which I did not have before the procedure. A couple hours later, I had a chills and fever up to 102.5 degF. I had symptoms of a flu with severe fatigue and body ache. Dr. prescribed Azithromycin. As of now, I m still coughing up phlegm with blood (pale red) a few times a day, especially when it s coming from deep inside. My fever came down to almost normal after 3 days. Starting to feel better every day but not quite 100%. What are your thoughts on this.
Hi. Read and understood your history of colonoscopy followed by flu and resultant secondary infections. It seems to me that colonoscopy was done under general anesthesia. You developed the respiratory infection then. Azithromycin was a good choice. It looks it is better to have another course of suitable antibiotic under the guidance of your Doctor along with supportive medicines so that you will be recovered fully.
