What Causes Sore Throat, Heart Palpitation And Shivering?

I choked on a large piece of chicken about an hour ago and I m really shaken still.. My throat is sore yet I ve not eaten anything since.. I m breathing normally and talking but I m shivering and my heart is racing. Should I seek medical advise or am I just panicking?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a panic attack due to choking. I suggest to calm down and drink liquids. You can also take a chamomile tea for relaxation. I recommend to avoid hard food for a few days as your throat gets better. In my opinion, you may need a second medical advice only if you have breathing difficulties.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
