What Causes Sore Throat Post A Cataract Surgery While On Ofloxacin And Durezol?
I have recently had cataract surgery and was prescribed ofloxacin, durezol, and prolensa drops to apply each day. Surgery was on Dec. 7th and as of yesterday, I have a very soar throat that comes and goes on the same side as the eye surgery. Could this be due to the medication prescribed?
This is the most common reason for acute sore throat. The other causes would be a post nasal drip of mucus , severe reflux
If you have a history of reflux or post nasal drip then treatment of one of these conditions would help. Reflux can be treated with lifestyle changes and medication (eg zantac, pepcid, nexium, prilosec, prevacid)
Post nasal drip can be treated with an anti histamine/decongestant combination.
You would need to check with your doctor to make sure that these medications are safe for you to use at this point in time.
I hope this helps
