What Causes Spasms And Stiffness In The Lower Back?

2 days ago I woke up with a very stiff lower back with spasm. I went into our local walk in clinic, and they gave me a shot of Tordal, and a prescription for Tizanadil. I am still pretty stiff even with the muscle relaxers, and now today my feet have begun to tingle. I m not sure if I should go back to the doctor, or wait it out a couple more days.

Hi,

Considering your symptoms, this pain and spasms might be related to lumbar column arthrosis or a pinched nerve on the lumbo-sacral level by a bulging disc. Ketorolac is an antiinflammatory drug used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation, it's not a muscle relaxant.

I can't find any medical product named "tizanadil", so I don't now what effect it has. I suggest you to:
- Take Ibuprofen twice daily
- Also take Acetominofen + Codeine phosphate twice daily (if the pain
doesn't improve from Ibuprofen)
- Apply ice packs, or heat therapy
- Physical therapy is also important for muscle spasms relief

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
