Hello dear Greetings Regarding your request to know what is the cause behind developing a spontaneous pneumothorax I am suggesting strongly two possibility
One is your chronic history of smoking this definitely has some devastating chemical components that can damage your lung and result into spontaneous pneumothorax
Secondly is your exposure to snow this has the potential of transferring air into your pleural cavity leading to this medical emergency(spontaneous pneumothorax)
