What Causes Spotting After Intercourse?

Hi. I've been on the pill for 10 months roughly. I got a bit careless with my boyfriend about a week ago about using a condom and today I had brown discharge and a drop of blood. I'm halfway through my pack of pills and I've never had spotting before. Should I be concerned?

Hi, thanks for sharing your concern with HCM!

There are few possibilities of this spotting:

1. normal, as in post-ovulatory spotting

2. trauma during intercourse

3. infection/cysts/ulcer in cervix or vagina

A PAP test is suggested if you are not convinced!

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
