What Causes Spotting After Taking UTI Medicines?

Hi Doctor, Few weeks ago I had urine infected, went to the doctor and he prescripted 5 days antibiotic. While I was taking antibiotic just almost in time finishing the medication, I was spotting for 2 days and went to the family doctor to explain the situation, she did run some tests and the tests came out negative which I am not pregnant. The spotting stopped after few days, She told me to start a new pack of birth control pills which I am taking right now (Tri cyclen lo -28). 2 weeks after I m spotting again but very very light brown. Went back to her and explained once again, she told me to finish the last pack of birth control pills and let the body rest and give a break from the the pills. My question is... Wanting to know what went wrong?

In many women this type of spotting in between is common and it does not indicate any serious issue. Its just hormonal effect. Don't worry much about that.
