What Causes Stabbing Pain & Chills Post Hernia Surgery?
I had surgery for a spigelian hernia a year ago and since that surgery I have stabbing pain, chills and it feels like my stomach is raw inside, Can this be a tear in the muscle where the incisions were made, nerve endings. Pain in unbearable and do not know what to do?
Hello, it can be a possibility that the nerves were pinched or cut during surgery which can cause pain post surgically in the area. Additionally if mesh was used to repair your hernia, sometimes mesh can cause irritation of nerves and tissues. Consider seeking physician/surgeon evaluation for skin injection with local anesthetic to see if this relieves pain, if it does likely the pain is related to nerve. If it does not , likely is related to mesh or another issue.
