I have been dealing with tight muscles in my neck and shoulders. Almost 2 years ago I had cervical spinal fusion with 5&6 and 6&7 being fused. I was in a whiplash car accident about 13 years ago and fought my neck for years. I have had migranes for many years but they seemed to lesson after the fusion. I am a runner, always exercise, have had to give that up for now. Been having all this pain in my right side of my face, ear, etc. Always my headaches have gone into the right side of my face. They have done MRI's a couple times of my brain and neck before the fusion. Found major herniated discs, spurs, nerves being pinched, the migraines got so bad, that is why I did the fusion. My migraine meds have not been working, been going to PT, getting trigger point injections into shoulder, neck muscles that are so tight. I got an occipital nerve block yesterday which I think helped. But today I am feeling lightheaded, strange. I worry about a brain tumor, always have. Going to PT today and hopefully that will help again. Any advice, is this normal, steroid shots have made me sick before, but the Dr. decided to give it another chance. I constantly worry as this always goes into my face, ear, etc. I have numbness in my hand most of the time, so the nerves must be pinching. Is this truly a migraine, or is it all from the neck, shoulder issues I continue to have. Would it benefit me to do something long term with this occipital nerve? My neurologist, whom I don't seem to get very far with is finally putting me on topamax, for preventative. I have tried imatrex, maxalt, triximet, etc. Most do not work. I go in and get tordal/pheregan shots quite often.
