Doctor my son is 8 and a half years old, weighs 25 kgs. He had stomach ache headache on Saturday and after an hour he had fever. He has mild congestion but his tonsils are inflamed. Initially he had stiff neck body ache esp his legs . Doc has prescribed only ibuprofen for fever if high and paracetamol every 6 hrs. But nothing to ease his sore throat and cold. Kindly advise

Noted the history about your 8 year old son who has stomach ache, headache on Saturday, developed fever after half an hour, mild congestion with inflamed tonsils, had stiff neck initially as well as leg pains, given Ibuprofen and Paracetamol. No relief. It is possible that he has bacterial infection and may need an antibiotic too along with decongestants. Revisit the Pediatrician and get blood tests or Malaria and any other diseases of childhood prevalent in your area.
