What Causes Stomach Ache And Vomiting After An Insect Bite?

Hello, My 11 year old son was bite by an insect today while playing basketball. He has a red colored bruise and a little bit of swelling. He said that the area hurts. About 2 hours after the bite, he complained that his stomach hurt and he vomited. He does not have a fever. Should I take him to the emergency room or is it safe to assume that the bite and the stomach pain/vomiting are unrelated?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Abdomen pain is secondary to insect bite induced irritation of nerve endings.

Vomiting may or may not be part of this instance.

A single episode of vomit can be a case of further observation. If persistent or increasing pain with vomit, you may proceed to ER as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
