Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Stomach Bloating Along With Abdominal Pain?
I am a 60 year old female with cramping where my left ovary should be. Bloated abdomen, the cramping is like menstral cramps, but I have been in menopause for several years. Last year I had an ultrasound but nothing was found. I avoid gluten, fried foods and don t eat meat very often. I exercise, weigh 130; have gained 5-10 lbs in the last few months with the bloating.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. The camping pain like menstral pains in menopausal woman on left ovarian site with normal ultrasound can be due to intestinal inflammation or obstruction. It can be sigmoid colitis. I would advise you the following: Clinical evaluation and an actual examination by a General Surgeon can give the bes t idea. X-ray of abdomen in standing position, tests of blood, stool and urine can help further. Since ultrasound of the abdomen can not show everything it is better to go for CT scan of the abdomen. The treatment will obviously be as per the cause found. Till them take antispasmodic to help with the pain
