What Causes Sudden Drop In BP After Taking Amox Tr-k?
hi my name is Joe I HAVE HIGH BP AND TAKING LISINOPRIL-HCTZ JUST SERVIVED THROAT CANCER OCT 9 completed 35 radiations and 7 chemo last week saliva glands stopped working neck area started to fill with fluid dr gave me script for amox tr k took it started taking it last wed mon started to feel a little weak tue got weaker wed morn while walking through kitchen passed out friend took me to hosp was there till am feeling ok now but what caused the sudden drop in bp
Thanks for the query. If the fluid collection in the neck is pretty big, it can compress the carotid body receptors, a small organ located in the big artery of the neck that regulates blood pressure; when suddenly compressed, it gives a signal to the brain to lower blood pressure. This may have been the mechanism, and if so, the main treatment is treating the underlying fluid collection and keeping well hydrated.
Hope this helps, wish you the best,
