Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi i had sudden hearing loss last July 2015, along with a terrible bout of vertigo. I have been to three ent doctors which included going to Univeristy of Michigan. I was told it was a virus. I m so much better than I was a year ago, however, I never got my hearing back and I get this sound in my ear like a rubber band noise. Not always sometimes it depends on certain movements of my head. What is causing this. No one seems to be able to help me.
Your symptoms seem to be related to an inner ear disorder, probably caused by a viral infection.
Coming to this point, I would recommend taking ginkgo biloba supplements in order to help improve the tinnitus. Sertraline would also help improve your situation.
Regarding the hearing loss, I would recommend performing an inner ear CT scan and an audiogram. Consulting with an ENT specialist is necessary.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
