Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
what can cause sudden middle back pain, which also makes it hard to br before, but that was different than tiseathe--but when i sit and lean back against the couch, I can get a better breath? I have had pleurisy before, but that was different than this
I understand your concern. You most likely have an acute disc pathology in the form of prolapse, which can cause you such sudden discomfort in the middle back. Its extremely rare for pleurisy to cause such symptoms, unless the infection is very severe over a long period of time. Also your pain showing variations in posture with no relation to the pattern of breathing.I strongly advise you to get an ultrasound chest along with an MRI scan of the dorsal spine. This can accurately determine the pathology and offer guide to the management of your back pain.Meanwhile analgesics like ibuprofen will help.Consult a neurosurgeon with regards to above.Post your further queries if any. Thank you.
