What Causes Sudden Tingling Sensation In Face, Lips And Tongue?

I just experienced sudden tingling in my face, lips, and tongue on one side. I was talking to my wife, and she said my speech wasn t slurred, that I was making sense still as I spoke, and I felt otherwise normal. Just wondering if I should be concerned or anything. The episode lasted for about 60 to 90 seconds or so.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Unilateral tingling sensation can be cause by neuropathy (inflamed facial nerves) like trigeminal neuralgia, Bell's palsy, or an injury to the face or exposure to cold temperatures or multiple sclerosis. It can also due to anxiety or initial symptom of stroke or transient ischemic attack. You should consult a neurologist for further clinical evaluation and some relevant tests that may be needed to find out the exact cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
