On a recent diagnostic mammogram & ultrasound a suspicious area noted right breast, however no detectable lumps. I was invited back for a repeat diagnostic mammo in three months. Today I ve found a tender area in right armpit and saw my doc who said it s a superficial vein thrombosis. Also stated mammo results state probably benign. and that I was likely invited back to just take another look as a precaution. I do not remember injuring my armpit in any way, and do not wear constrictive clothing. Is it possible this thrombosis could be related to whatever is going on in the breast?
Yes it could be related to the pathology in the breast. What is your age? Do you have a lump in your breast? Are you suffering from any other diseases? Is there any pain or discharge from the breast? Can you please answer the above questions so I can help. Superficial vein thrombosis or thrombophlebitis can be caused by injury and is also common in cancers. But, many a cases it happens without any known cause. I can advise you better with the results of your tests and if it is inconclusive you can get an MRI done. For the vein thrombosis, you can apply Heparin ointment and take Paracetamol tablets for a week. Let me know and take care. Dr Rishi from New Delhi.
