What Causes Swelling And Bruise On Left Eye And Cheek Caused After A Facial Injury?
I am 76 years old. I fell yesterday onto a wood floor directly onto my face without breaking my fall.I have a significant swollen area over the left eye, on my left cheek and a bruised and lacerated nose. I have a headache but not severe, am more emotional than usual but no other outstanding symptoms. Should I see a doctor?
As per your query you have swelling and bruising on one eye after facial injury . Well this is also known as black eye which occur when the small blood vessels (capillaries) beneath the skin have broken and blood has leaked into the surrounding tissue, creating discolorations. I would suggest you to apply ice pack 2-3 times a day , take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and swelling and consult oral maxilofacial surgeon for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order x-ray or CT scan to rule out anty fracture in the skull which is kind of emergency . Doctor may reduce the fracture .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
