What Causes Swelling And Pain In Arm Along With Restricted Movement?

My husband woke up yesterday with a lot of pain in his right hand and wrist. It is swollen and has limited flexibility. He can not bend fingers or use it. Advil helps the pain and ice packs give relief. He has atrial defib and is also experiencing blood in his urine.

Hello,

Taking into account the health problems of your husband, I think it might be a case of possible thrombus (blocked arm artery). Should check immediately with angiologist, so should send to ER as soon as possible. The presence of blood in urine is indicating possible laceration of his urinary pathways, and we should know why? Stones? infection or any other more serious issue? Send him to ER as soon as possible. You cannot manage him alone at home. He needs immediate medical help.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
