What Causes Swelling And Rashes On The Arm After Receiving An Injection?

Last wednesday I received the latest pneumonia shot. I had one last year and I assume this was the pneumonia 23 vaccine. I am 66 and have asthma. I received the injection in my upper right arm. I had swelling, bruising, a very warm red rash and soreness 4 inches below the injection site that spread about 8 inches farther down my arm past my elbow. I did see my doctor and she thought there was a slight possibility of cellulitus or mrsa and has treated me as such. Is this a normal reaction to this injection?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to minor inflammation at the injection site.

Nothing much to worry and it will settle by itself.

As of now, you can anti-inflammatory drugs like Serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
