What Causes Swelling In Ankle And Foot Post Hip Replacement?

my wife has had both hips replaced in a period of 5 weeks, the right has come along nicely. the left which her just had done 5days ago is causing us some concern right now. Her ankle and foot is swollen today, we are iceing right now, but should we be worried.

Hello,

The swelling after hip replacement may continue for months after surgery. You can take anti-inflammatory drugs such acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain and swelling. Keep leg at rest as much as possible. Use ice for swelling.
