Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling In Gums Along With Tingling Sensation In Teeth?
I am experiencing a tingling sensation in my front bottom teeth and there is a slight swelling in the gums behind them. I used to experience this in childhood too(around the age of 3 or 4) and then the sensation disappeared, but the feeling is now back(age 21). Could you please tell me the possible reason for this?
As per your query the tingling and swelling of gums occurs most commonly due to bacterial infection in the gums due to improper oral hygiene.
This leads to deposition of plaque and calculus( calcified deposits on teeth which cannot be removed with tooth brush) over the teeth near the gums and the area more prone to these deposits is lower front teeth.
This leads to swelling, soreness, discomfort, itching and bleeding from the gums.
I would suggest you to see a dentist and get clinical check up done.
If it is due to deposits on teeth causing infection, scaling can effectively reduce infection and swelling if followed by proper topical and oral antibiotics. If it is due to some other underlying problem correction of the problem can help in relieving.
Hope this helps..
Thanks and regards..
