What Causes Swelling In Right Knee While Suffering From Arthritis?

I have had a swelling in my right knee and have often inquired when visiting my doctors. They have never said it was serious. I even went to a specialist and after testing I was told nothing was wrong. I was always told excercise lose weight and that I had arthritis. What should I do next? My email is YYYY@YYYY

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swelling in right knee while suffering from arthritis. Well in arthritis particularly rheumatoid arthritis, the body's immune system attacks the lining of the joint capsule, a tough membrane that encloses all the joint parts. This lining, known as the synovial membrane, becomes inflamed and swollen. The disease process can eventually destroy cartilage and bone within the joint. I would suggest you to take disease modifying antirheumatic drugs like methotrexate , biologic response modifiers like etanercept or cortisone after consultation with doctor . Also loose your weight and do light exercises . Also lower your salt consumption and keep your leg elevated.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
