What Causes Swelling In Scrotum After Removal Of Large Testicular Cyst?
I had a large testicular cyst removed via my left inguinal canal 10 days ago and am still experiencing significant swelling in my left scrotum. It appears blood is collecting there via an ultrasound last Thursday. My doctor says this is normal post-operative swelling but my left testicle is now the size of a small grapefruit. I also question the inguinal canal technique rather than direct excision via the scrotum that appears to have excessively traumatized my testicle. Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
Hi. Thanks for your very relevant queries. Let me answer one by one: 1. The one concerning the inguinal route : This is preferred as the skin of the abdomen can be best sterilized as compared to the scrotal skin which is wrinkled hence preferred by some Surgeons and this route is also not very traumatic is properly done. 2. Accumulation of the blood: can be aspirated under ultrasonography guidance or a small drain be put in with compression bandage. 3. Size of the left testicle can be ascertained by ultrasonography alone and if swollen will regain normal with time aided with anti-inflammatory medicines.
