Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling In The Arm After A Self Injury?
My 10-yr-old son fell at school last week. No swelling, no much pain (other than similar to a bruise), no loss in mobility, no change in his ability to shoot baskets/swim/etc. Tonight I noticed a swollen area on his arm where the pain originally was. It isn t warm or discolored. Is it possible for a break to be so unnoticeable until now? Should I do anything between now and the morning when I can call the dr?
This is an extremely unlikely to have a broken bone gone this much unnoticed. In fact, if there is no severe pain and mobility is OK, this is enough to say that there is no fracture. Swelling is common and is not serious if not warm and tender.
Hope I have answered your query.
