Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling In The Head While Suffering From Migraines?
My son has migraine headaches and they cause his head to swell. He wears a baseball cap and it is loose then when a headache comes on his head swells and the cap becomes tight. He has not had it checked out yet and I was wondering if it is a serious problem?
Hi Thanks for posting your query on HCM. I have read and understood your concern. Migraine headache may be associated with scalp swelling caused by muscle tension/tightness around the head. This may explain the swelling.I will suggest you see the Doctor for examination.Treatment of migraine is very effective with both Pain-relieving medications(drugs are taken during migraine attacks and are designed to stop symptoms) and Preventive medications(taken regularly, often on a daily basis, to reduce the severity or frequency of migraines) measures.Just see the Doctor for evaluation. Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns. Best regards
