What Causes Swelling In The Legs And Excessive Abdominal Bloating?

Yes, I'm experiencing some leg swelling and lots of gassiness. I am 52 and post-menopausal so i also have lots of symptoms for that as well. but I've never noticed my legs swelling like they are now. My Doctor e-mailed and told me to try a probiotic for the bloating and gas. Will that help with the swelling or should I be more concerned and go in to see the Dr.?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there I have read through your question and understand your concern. Swelling in legs can be caused by a number of factors. It is important to rule out any cardiac causes as heart failure is a common cause of leg swelling at your age. If you have any previous cardiac condition s it is important that you get your self assessed by your physician immediately. Other symptoms associated with heart failure are shortness of breath, fatigue and tiredness and bloating. If you are diagnosed with heart failure you may be put on diuretics. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
