What Causes Swelling In The Legs While Suffering From Paralysis?

My mom is paralyzed on her right side (leg & arm) from a stroke 18 months ago. Today when home health come to visit they noticed swelling in her legs & what she described as swelling of the right arm just able elbow with a bubble. She said if the skin breaks, weeping will occur & she has never seen it reversed. What should I do to avoid skin breaks & relieve the swelling? She is taking 20mg of Lasix daily.

Hi, it looks like a venous swelling due to reduced pumping action of leg and hand muscles because of paralysis. Active physiotherapy is the answer and some drugs like Diosmin may also help. Regards
