What Causes Swelling, Pain And Water Coming Out From The Operated Area?
Problems after delivery My wife gave birth to a baby boy of 2.8kg through caesarean as the passage was small. Now after for months the stitched party had been swollen and remains sometimes wet. Please tell me what to do for the swolling and the water which comes out from the operated area. And she is still experiencing pain in her operated area. How long will this pain continue. And is it possible to have the next baby through normal delivery?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Swelling and watery discharge along with pain in the area suggests infection and inflammation of the part. She would need her surgeon's advice after examining the part and get the medicines prescribed along with antibiotics also as per need. At present, she has to keep the wound clean, take tab Combiflam over the counter after food, twice a day till she consults the expert.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
