Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Noted the history of taking
aspirin for three months for toothache, had neat whisky over infected tooth at night, have swollen and hard stomach 24 hours a day,
shortness of breath and gained 22 pounds, waiting to have scan for
hiatus hernia.
The most probable causes can be related to some pathology in the abdomen for which you need further evaluation, examination and investigations. I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- Tests of blood, urine and stool.
- CT scan of the abdomen to see for any cause for the symptoms of swollen and hard stomach.
Further investigations and treatment depends upon the findings of the investigations. Stop aspirin and go for an upper GI
endoscopy to get treated if any positive findings.
Colonoscopy if required.
Swollen stomach compresses on the lungs causing breathlessness, also get an X-ray of the chest.Weight gain could have been explained only on clinical evaluation and examination and investigations. Let us see the reports.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
