What Causes Swollen And Tender Glands On Neck Along With Fever?
My daughter, age 28, has a low grade fever of 100.7. She got her period today. She is also noticing swollen glands on both sides of her neck, she is very emotional - says she can't seem to stop crying - and has some tenderness in those glands AND in the lower back of her head.
Understanding your concern. As per your query swollen and tender glands on neck along with fever might be a common viral pharyngitis or a viral infection common in child that doesn't require specific treatment apart from rest, keep her hydrated and keep the fever down. Another cause could be strep throat. I would suggest you to consult physician or ENT specialist if you are able to see swollen tonsils in her. A fever of 100.7 it not so high to require immediate medical care. You can give her Ibuprofen or Tylenol every 6 hours. She should rest, eat well, drink plenty of fluids. Antibiotic such as Azithromycin is effective in case of strep. infection. Do warm saline gargles.
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
