What Causes Swollen Foot After Hair Line Fracture?

On July 4,2015. A wooden pallet fell on the very top of my foot. I did go to the ER and had a X-ray. The doctor said it was a hair line fracture. I wore a boot for 7 days as instructed, rested it, elevated it, iced it, and applied compression also as instructed but my foot continues to swells daily. I m still in pain and unable to walk on it. Am I expecting too much to soon or should I be concerned and go back?

Hi,

I cannot say in your particular case and some of the deep bones of the foot can heal badly and maintain pain and problems for the foot. MRIs are often used if the situation is complex.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
