Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swollen Incision Site Post Colon Resection?
I had a colon resection 2 weeks ago today and have felt fine. I m now starting to feel pain in my lower stomach area and the incision site is slightly swollen and hard to the touch. Is this part of the healing process or should I contact my Doctor? Thank you
The fullness with tenderness on touch at the incision site over the abdomen suggest possible collection of fluid or pus below the incision through infection. The same should be presented to the operating surgeon immediately without any delay.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
