Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swollen Lymph Node In The Neck And Pain In The Limbs?
I have had a lymph node swollen in my neck, noticeably for a year. Ache all over like I have had the flue. Sharp numbing pains in limbs, hands and feet. Family dr says fibromyalgia and just swollen node. Has given meds for arthritis and fib do but only getting wares. I have been VERY active until past year. Now can not sleep, sit or stand without pain. Almost debilitating at times and now depressed. I am outdoor busy body and now nothing. What else could it be?
The swollen lymph node on the neck persisting for one year could be due to any chronic oral infection ( laryngitis, pharyngitis, angina, teeth infection).
General malaise for last year means low immunity. Possibly viral infection, or due to chronic infections as mentioned above.
Should run a few diagnostic tests to determine the right diagnosis and treatment strategy:
- complete blood count
- urine analysis
- check blood electrolytes and vitamins level
- liver/kidney function test.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
